Job Description for GE Power Careers Off Campus Drive 2023:
The Software Engineer will assist in developing a Stochastic Expansion Planning Model and a real-world proof of concept analysis to test the capabilities of the new tool. This new software will leverage the existing functionality of GE’s Multi Area Production Simulation (GE MAPS) software, Multi Area Reliability Simulation (GE MARS) software, as well as the GE MAPS and MARS Python Application Programming Interface to simulate electric system investment decisions under uncertainty. In this role, you will participate in the development of a proof-of-concept dataset to test and validate the functionality of the new Stochastic Expansion Planning Model on a real-world system. You will participate in the collection and modelling of data with multiple stakeholders and develop presentations and communicate findings.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Partner with key stakeholders to understand functionality needs for the stochastic expansion planning software
- Work with the team to develop real-world test cases to prove the capabilities of the tools as they are built
- Develop input data formats for the new tool, collect data and model it in those formats
- Assist with the development of a real-world proof-of-concept analysis establishing and demonstrating best practices for the usage of the new stochastic expansion planning model
- Provide software support for the new stochastic expansion planning model to internal and external customers
- Assist with preparing presentations to communicate the findings of the proof-of-concept analysis
